Further Infomation

1. Who are Acorn Ski?
Acorn Ski is part of Acorn Venture Ltd., established in 1981. Acorn Venture Ltd. is a leading provider of adventure and ski holidays and educational tours to schools and groups. The company continues to grow from strength to strength thanks to the ever increasing number of groups travelling with us year after year - many coming to us
through recommendations.

2. What standard of accommodation do you use?
Our accommodation is selected by a senior representative of Acorn Ski and regularly inspected. We also have in place a stringent and externally verified accommodation auditing procedure. The type of accommodation we use for our groups varies from 2 or 3 star hotels to the more basic youth hotels and hostels. We will recommend accommodation to suit your needs and your budgets. Please note, we only ever use accommodation that is particularly suited to groups.

3. Do you have an external recognition for your safety management system?
Acorn Ski is an assured member of the School Travel Forum (STF). STF has established a new and high set of safety standards for school travel operators and its members must adhere to a rigorous Code of Practice and Safety Management Standards. These at least meet the requirements of DfES guidelines and are externally verified each year by suitably qualified independent Health and Safety professionals. Please click here for details.

4. Is my group fully insured or do I need to take our seperate insurance?
Extensive insurance cover is included in the Acorn Ski package. It covers each child and adult for the whole period of the trip including travel to and from your chosen destination. Full details of our insurance will be supplied at the time of booking or click here for a summary of the policy.

5. Do you provide inspection visits?
Yes. Inspection visits provide an excellent opportunity to sample your chosen destination before hand. For a booking of 40 full paying people we will refund or contribute to the costs of a visit for two people.

6. What are the normal group sizes for instruction?
As a rule we allocate one ski instructor to 12 students. However, depending on the split of skiing ability in your group, you can choose to use an extra instructor. Please ask us for details.

7. Why is boarding more expensive than skiing?
Snowboarding gains in popularity every year and we offer snowboarding packages in all our resorts. It is more expensive than skiing because classes are smaller with a recommended 1:8 instructor per student ratio. Snowboarding equipment hire is also
usually more expensive.

8. Are helmets required?
We recommend helmets for all children under the age of 14. We suggest that hiring helmets is arranged in the UK before you travel to ensure the correct fit. (If you need assistance we will be happy to suggest suppliers.)
