Folgarida is a brilliant big circuit with the skiing, powerful snowmaking and outstanding lift service amongst the finest in Europe. The village is attractive and stylish with a lovely setting amongst the trees – and you would never know that it’s purpose built for skiing. Gorgeous scenery is something to be expected from a ski resort but the sweet-smelling snow-covered pinewood forests around Folgarida really are something special, and far below, the spreading vastness of the Val di Sole, Valley of Sun, provides one of the most spectacular panoramas in Italy. The resort boasts a powerful snowmaking system, but the area sees plenty of natural snow throughout the season anyway.

There is exceptional skiing to be enjoyed by absolutely everyone. Host of the 1999 Snowboard World Championships, this resort is a great spot for younger skiers and families alike. Twenty-four lifts service the resort, with a capacity for 32,600 skiers per hour getting access to all areas. This is a good place for beginners, because the ski school is at the mid-station where the snow is always good. It is a paradise for intermediates – they have a wonderful selection of winding tree runs and virtually every route on the system offers a blue or a red option. Advanced skiers can enjoy the limitless off piste and high mileage.

There are plenty of non-ski alternatives to enjoy, with some attractive après-ski options including a local fitness centre, ice-skating, indoor swimming, parasailing and several saunas. There’s some great cuisine on offer at local restaurants, plus lively entertainment at bars and nightclubs around the resort.
